Tami Sellner is not only a familiar face for many at St. Clair, she’s also a familiar voice in the choir room as this will be her second stint as the Choral Director for the Cyclone Concert Choir. This will be Sellner’s 30th year teaching vocal music, but her passion and drive toward making incredible musical experiences still runs strong.
Much of her career as a choral teacher was spent in the Mankato area at Dakota Meadows and Mankato West, and a seven-year stay at Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua, Wisconsin, but her return to St. Clair feels like a “full-circle” moment for Sellner, who was the Choral Director here over a decade ago.

The Choir program at St. Clair has experienced a renaissance over the past few years as former Director Laurie Thorstad, who actually worked alongside Sellner long ago, helped rebuild the Concert Choir to its current state with over 70 students expected for the 2025-2026 year. Additionally, Sellner will also have to manage several elementary and Jr High choirs throughout the school year…a challenge she welcomes, “It has been several years since I worked with elementary singers, and I am truly excited to work with these age groups and share my passion, cultivate a learning atmosphere, and contribute to the growth of the school’s music program.”
With a revitalized program and high expectations, Sellner is thrilled to return to St. Clair and work with these talented vocalists toward a year that is sure to be filled with beautiful music. “I am excited to collaborate with these young musicians at St. Clair. I am deeply passionate about choral music and fostering a welcoming, encouraging environment where each student can discover their talent and collaborate with their peers. It’s truly rewarding to witness those incredible, spine-tingling musical performances together.”
