The Janesville community is in mourning following the passing of Mayor Andrew “Andy” Arnoldt, who died on April 24, 2026, at the age of 47. Mayor Arnoldt passed away surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on May 27, 1978, in Mankato, Arnoldt’s roots in Janesville ran deep. A graduate of Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton High School, he was not only a public servant but a prolific entrepreneur. His hands-on nature was evident in his many ventures, including Arnoldt Construction, Arnoldt Power Washing and Repair, Arnoldt’s Good Spirits, and several other local businesses.

Under his leadership, the city saw significant improvements to its parks, extensive utility projects, and the revitalization of main streets and electric utilities. He was also a driving force behind the Economic Development Authority (EDA), where he championed fresh ideas to keep the local economy vibrant.
Beyond the Mayor’s office, Arnoldt’s fingerprints were everywhere in the community. He served on the St. Ann’s Cemetery Board, the Janesville Hay Daze Committee, the EDA , and the Janesville Beautification Group.
Known for his one-of-a-kind personality, his ability to fix anything, and a legendary sense of humor, Arnoldt leaves behind a legacy of “love, laughter, and strong values.” He was a regular at local sporting events and found immense joy at his camp in Northwest Ontario and spending time with his dogs.Andy is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sarah Arnoldt; his children, Taylor Grams and Tuckor Anderson; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Diane, and his brother, Tim.
