Farmamerica offers a unique dining experience
Hoping to create another opportunity for guest to enjoy their beautiful landscape and the end of summer weather, Farmamerica hosted “Taste of Time” on Thursday August, 8th. It was an event that Farmamerica worked with several sponsors to help bring about. “Taste of Time” offered 100 tickets, at $100 dollars a ticket ($75 for their members), for those who wished to enjoy a unique dining experience. From six to eight o’clock, guest were transported by tractor trolley to six stops around the Farmamerica property. Each stop had a variety of food or drink that fit the theme of the area, such as some tasty beverages outside the schoolhouse and church or some sautéed mushrooms and a pork rillette in the heart of the old farm.
Planning for the event began in late spring, in the spirit of their previous event’s, “Raise a Toast”, success in January. Farmamerica hoped to introduce attendees to some of the local businesses that make and serve their products here in MN. Among the businesses were; Christensen Farms, Rebel Rooster Farms, Schell’s Brewery, Harmony Spirits, Infinity Catering and Barefoot Lane MN. The sponsors enjoyed the event as an opportunity to put a face, and tasty memory, to the name of their company that customers could remember in the future. Rebel Rooster Farms grows their mushrooms in an indoor environment that facilitates healthy growth, offering some of the best mushrooms in MN. They understand that not all are accustomed to preparing mushrooms, so “Taste of Time” offered them a great opportunity to teach the people some great ways to prepare their product.
Chef Matt Hughes of Christensen farms used their produce and locally sourced pork to create an elegant handheld morsel that tasted as great as it looked. Both of these sponsors had previously attended events at Farmamerica and have enjoyed each appearance. Barefoot Lane MN made their first appearance at Farmamerica. They offered a rosemary garlic and an everyday sourdough that would be a welcome addition to any pantry.
Guests, whether they were couples or a group of friends, enjoyed themselves throughout the evening. There was a cash bar for guests to enjoy as they waited for the next tractor trolley and plenty of table space for them to enjoy the main course in the field behind the visitor center. Pioneer Seed sponsored a $250 dollar raffle that would take place at the end of the night. Farmamerica hired Waseca’s In A Bind to perform throughout the evening, and the trio of women musicians played wonderfully through the evening. Farmamerica succeeded in creating another memorable event and are sure to have another memorable experience in the near future.
