The State tournament may not have gone exactly how the St. Clair/Immanuel Lutheran had hoped for, but it still served as a reminder of an incredibly successful season for the Cyclones under Coach Ashley Swanson.
Kate Daly had advanced to the State tournament in the Class A High Jump but unfortunately ended her season with a No Mark. Daly had finished first in the Section tournament and was a force late into the regular season with a new School Record in the event under her belt after clearing a height of 5-03.00. She would also receive more top honors, including All-Conference recognition in both High Jump and Pole Vault. Daly would also receive honors for her excellence in the classroom as she was awarded Academic All-State. As a freshman, it’s only the start of what could be an outstanding career for the young Daly.
It was a season of broken records and accolades as Daly was not the only athlete to push their limits and etch their name in the history books for St. Clair as Brooklin Hinze clinched a school record in the Long Jump with a leap of 16.05.00. Additionally, many athletes with the Cyclones received All-Conference and Honorable Mentions: the relay team of Janessa Carstensen, Ashley Mills, Brooke Hagen, and Hinze received All-Conference recognition for both the 4×100 and 4×200 relays; Levi Thompson dominated most of his season on his way to All-Conference in Shot Put; the boys relay team of Oliver Schull, Andrew Clobes, Archer Richter, and Paxton Haala received Honorable Mentions for their work in the 4×100 Relay; Alex Kruse received Honorable Mention in Long Jump; Morgan Roemhildt received Honorable Mention in Shot Put.
All of the mentioned athletes showcased superior skill, technique, and athletic ability throughout the season and would typically finish at the top of the leaderboards in their events at most meets, so congratulations is due for the exceptional talent of these Cyclone athletes. Many will return for the 2025 season with lofty goals to improve and make it to that next level of competition. With Coach Swanson at the helm, these two track teams will only continue to run faster, jump higher, and hone their skills in preparation for next season.
