Happy late Mother’s Day to all the over, under, and perfectly appreciated women who continue to be a beacon of love to their children. I, myself, have a few hundred to a thousand miles between my mother and me, so we weren’t able to celebrate together. Thankfully, my sisters were able to do what I could not. They took her out to all the best places and made sure she had a wonderful day. I’m glad we live in a digital age, for there would be no faster way to tell someone, my mom, how much I appreciate them at a moments notice.
Ya know, my mother was in a bit of a wreck, more of a bender, definitely involved a fender, not long ago. Ah! What a shock it is to hear news like that. Life has only been hitting me with personal problems as of late, so I forgot just how hard family problems can hit the psyche. She is alright, she is okay, that’s why I could call her on Mother’s Day. Well is she alright? Told me about the bruising and shock that still affects her, but, as she says, her stubbornness will see her through the healing process. Thank goodness.
A bit of good news has come about too, though I’m not at liberty to share it for now. Suffice it to say, there is plenty of reason for all my family to continue to live healthy lives. Personally, I’m gonna move on to a bit of baseball writing to help me conceal this joyous family secret, or secret my mom told me to keep (because she could not). Let’s go Twins! They are on the edge of first place in the division and the solid baseball that I’ve been watching for nearly a month is what has put them in that position. They’ve certainly got the aspects of a team that could make another playoff appearance. The Twins bullpen has been able to keep the opposition in check consistently, and, more often than not, they’re able to bounce back on offense and score enough runs to make their opponents irrelevant. Last time I checked, the Twins are only half a game behind for first; Guardians and Royals competing for it right besides. I like to believe their success comes from my renewed baseball viewership, but that’s pretentious. As the Twins star rises, the Timberwolves star dangerously approaches supernova.
Go Denver! Is how I’ll start this, but I did hold my tongue, sort of, as they started their series against the T-Wolves. Am I a hater? Yes, however, I do have aspirations to spend some of my life in Colorado and I’m willing to root for the home team ahead of my arrival. Honestly, the Wolves did pretty dang good in the first two games, but when you lose game three to a score of 117, you should know that the UNSC Spartan energy is coming your way. Far be it for me, the avid Packers/Twins fan, to tell someone to chill out with their team’s hype; chill out though. Hubris, hypocritically, will be the downfall for the Timberwolves. Based on evidence? No. My hypothesis is based on social logic, I guess. Think of it like this, the way I think it: there is a big pile of mud that has been stacked through perceived years of back-and-forth cheers and jeers, and now a champion has arrived to move that pile, they are able to, yes, however, the density of such a thing will eventually prove too much for their current power. Don’t understand? Then look for this, if and when the wolves lose, listen to the chatter. If it’s positive, then I am wrong, but if you hear something like “same old Minnesota sports” then that’s the truth.
Shout out, once again, to me mum and all the mums out there. If it weren’t for y’all, we wouldn’t have someone to pick us up after we fall down.
