Elysian hosts annual Holidazzle and Christmas Parade

It doesn’t take much to bring hundreds into Elysian. But every year, Elysian pulls out all the stops to show its Christmas spirit in early December with its annual Holidazzle parade. This year, on Saturday, December 7, there were plenty of activities to enjoy.
The day started with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Elysian Fire Department. Although one may think it’s a community event, it was a private event for children, with parents and grandparents participating in several activities with Mrs. Claus from 8:30-10:30 a.m. The public was welcome at the Christmas Sale-A-Thon and Bake Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The main event, the parade, occurred at 6:30 p.m., when the sun went down and the lights went up. Several units were in the parade, and all had a colorful, bright display of lights to show off to the hundreds of spectators in attendance. The Grinch even made an appearance, greeting people. His heart must have grown three sizes earlier in the day, as he wasn’t in his infamous grumpy mood but rather cheerful.
Bingo at the Elysian Fire Department immediately followed the parade.
Elysian knows how to get everyone in the Christmas spirit early by shining lights to keep the community bright.
