Many love gobbling up food. Many also love to trot through a fun run. Why not have the best of both worlds?
Farmamerica hosted its annual Turkey Trot Fun Run with a breakfast on Friday, November 29th. The breakfast was from 9 a.m. to noon, while the fun run started at 10 a.m.
Of course, the day that a hundred people were crazy enough to chance running even one kilometer (let alone a 5k) in late November in Minnesota, it got pretty chilly. There was a fire near the starting point, and at least it was sunny out.
Those who wanted to enjoy breakfast before, after, or during the Fun Run were welcomed to fluffy all-you-can-eat waffles.

Two presidentially pardoned turkeys greeted customers inside the Farmamerica building, too. It’s tradition for the White House to pardon turkeys around Thanksgiving before they find their “forever home.” This year, Farmamerica was the lucky party to house the gobblers for the rest of their lives. Everyone who paid admission to the breakfast, fun run, or both had a special meet-and-greet opportunity with the turkeys.
For some, the fun run may have been an excuse to burn calories after Thanksgiving dinner the day before. Others may just be suckers for punishment and like to run, especially on a day when temperatures only made it to the low to mid-20s. But for Farmamerica, it’s a great fundraiser which benefits them greatly while helping them give back to the Waseca area community by providing resources to educate the public on local agriculture.
